Dear Formula SAE Community,
As we honor the legacy of the ANZACs during this week of remembrance, I'm thrilled to share some momentous updates from our ever-evolving team.
Inspiring the Next Generation:
Our commitment to fostering the next generation of engineers remains steadfast. This week, our leadership team had the privilege of collaborating with the School of Engineering, Design, and Built Environment engagement team. Reaching out seeking our assistance, and I'm delighted to report that Karthik Sunderasan, Autonomous Lead and Bennett Cyril, Low Voltage Lead showcased the innovative work we're undertaking in Formula SAE to high school students. Their efforts served as a source of inspiration for engineering in tomorrow's leaders.
Success at OptimumG's Seminar:
Collaboration has been key to our success, exemplified by our involvement in OptimumG's Applied Vehicle Dynamics Seminar. Despite facing initial challenges, the seminar, which commenced towards the end of this week, has seen remarkable success. With a turnout of 9 industry professionals and 26 students, including 7 members from our team, the event has exceeded expectations. I extend my sincerest thanks to the Student Clubs team, Professor Richard Yang, Academic Supervisor and Craig Smith, Manager Commercial Operations for their invaluable support in securing suitable venues for this prestigious event. Special recognition is also due to Has Gardige and Daniele Rodrigues, Marketing Assistant OptimumG for their outstanding efforts in organizing the seminar. Their dedication to effective communication and teamwork has been instrumental in achieving such impressive attendance numbers.
Breakthroughs in Procurement:
Further discussions this week with Western staff, spearheaded by myself, have yielded promising developments for our procurement process and access to funding. I extend a heartfelt thank you to Richard Martino, Manager Student Community for navigating the complexities of the university ecosystem and facilitating our progress. Thanks to Richard's efforts, we're on track to receive our first purchase, slated for delivery in the coming week. This milestone marks a significant step forward for our team and underscores the power of collaboration and perseverance.
Exciting Milestones:
Our team reaches a significant milestone as we successfully complete the Formula SAE-A 2024 expression of interest for team registration. This is the the first step solidifying our participation in the Formula SAE-Australasia competition, marking a pivotal moment in our journey. Building upon last year's experience, where defeat only fueled our determination, this year promises to showcase the fruits of our labor. Notably, our entry signals the university's return to the Internal Combustion competition while simultaneously marking our debut in both the Electric Vehicle competition and the Autonomous Vehicle demonstration. The stage is set for us to demonstrate our prowess across multiple domains, and I have every confidence in our ability to rise to the occasion.
Team Expansion and Leadership:
Our ambitious goals necessitate a robust team, and I'm proud to announce that our member count are nearing triple digits. This week, we've taken significant strides in solidifying our leadership team, with seven students stepping up to shoulder additional responsibilities. Join me in welcoming our new leadership team:
Lazmi Kabir, Secretary
Ishan Bamir, Treasurer
George Gaitanditis, Chassis Lead
Adam O'Brien, Partnerships Lead
Anthea Hussein, Events Lead
Roze Orhan, Media Lead
Nektaria Triantopoulos, Creative Lead
As we forge ahead, let us carry forward the spirit of collaboration, innovation, and dedication that defines our team.
Best Regards,
Bowen Fucile
