About the Competition
The competition challenges engineering students to design and build vehicles that meet strict safety and performance regulations, ensuring a showcase for cutting-edge automotive engineering.
The competition tests a range of events and emphasizes optimizing performance. The use of electric and autonomous designs demonstrates an increasing focus on environmentally-friendly technology and cutting-edge engineering.
Formula SAE provides realistic experience for engineering students to test and hone their skills learnt through their studies.
The competition requires the student led teams to design and manufacture their own Formula-style and manage this as a real engineering firm. This provides students with experience utilising advanced equipment and software.
These experiences enhance problem-solving and outcome focused management skills which are highly valued attributes when appealing to potential employers.
